Former Speaker Gingrich Utilizes Services of Multi-Media Solutions to Teach Law Class
Denver, CO—March 16, 2009—We all like to think we are prepared for whatever might happen throughout our business day, but when put to the test, will you be able to rise to the occasion? An audiovisual communications company in Alcoa, Tenn. recently had the opportunity to answer that question when former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich knocked on the door in need of Video-Teleconferencing (VTC) services.
It started like any other day for Multi-Media Solutions (MMS), but when the phone rang at 9:45 a.m. with a request for VTC services from Gingrich, it was clear the day would be anything but typical. Due to weather, Gingrich made an unexpected landing at Knoxville’s airport and needed to broadcast a lecture on judicial review to students at the University of Georgia School of Law. Within 45 minutes of receiving the call, Gingrich was using the high definition VTC at MMS teach this class.
“We were fortunate to be referred to Multi-Media Solutions, Inc.,” said Gingrich, who was referred to MMS by Clayton Homes, one of MMS’s clients. “There is certainly something to be said for always being ready to provide professional service on very short notice. (MMS’s) professional courtesy and support proved invaluable and allowed me to fulfill a very important obligation.”
In any business, it’s important to demonstrate that you have the knowledge, capability and infrastructure to put your expertise to the test, said Mike White, president/CEO of MMS.
“Our offices are equipped with the latest VTC technology, which we believe is essential to 21st Century communications and that we regularly suggest to clients in a wide range of industries.”
Any business with multiple locations or clients in other locations can benefit from VTC technology, according to White. It allows people around the world to meet “face-to-face,” share visual experiences (such as PowerPoint presentations) and ideas, while reducing travel costs and increasing productivity.
“Visual communication can have a powerful impact on an organization’s productivity, and video and web conferencing and video streaming have been growing in popularity,” said White.
White believes that due to its ability to reduce costs and increase productivity by lessening travel, and its environmental impacts, VTC technology is one of the top five technologies business should look to this year for a fast return on investment.
“The cost of VTC technology has dropped dramatically in the last 10 years, and today’s technology is very user-friendly, making it ideal way to communicate for busy professionals like Mr. Gingrich,” said White. “Mr. Gingrich regularly teaches and uses VTC technology from DC, and we were honored to meet and have the capability to serve him.”
Gingrich taught for two hours at MMS that morning, and afterward joined Mike and his brother and colleague Steve for lunch.
“It was truly an amazing experience. When I woke up that morning, I had no idea what the day would hold,” said White. “Thankfully, with our staff of professionals and a fully functional board room, we were able to do put the technology we sell into action, and it was a day that we are all proud of—not only because we had the opportunity to interact with one of our country’s greatest leaders, but because we were prepared to put our AV technology and expertise to the test.”
So, the lesson learned by MMS that day? Always “practice what you preach,” and be prepared to showcase the services you sell to your clients, because you never know who may show up and need them.
