USAV Announces Rebrand To Edge

USAV ANNOUNCES REBRAND TO EDGE

WESTMINSTER, Colo. – June 28, 2022USAV, a division of PSA, today announced its rebrand to Edge effective immediately. Since 2001, USAV has supported audio/visual systems integrators throughout the world by connecting them with industry-leading manufacturers, distributors and service providers creating unparalleled partnerships. As integrators have grown and changed over time, a necessity for the USAV brand to evolve became evident.

“Over the past two years we have made tremendous strides to grow internationally,” said Patrick Whipkey, vice president of Edge. “We conducted interviews with both our US and international audiences and discovered integrators and the markets they serve have evolved. From this, we determined it was time to find a name and look that serves who we are now and want to be in the future.”

The Edge team conducted research, creatively brainstormed and developed four distinct brands to consider as final contenders. When PSA acquired USAV in 2017, it also acquired the brand CI Edge. The inspiration for the ultimate choice, Edge, was derived from this.

“With its sharp angles and bold appearance, the new logo speaks to a strategic advantage, commanding perspective and comprehensive view; whereas the edges of the logo are slightly rounded to emphasize the modern and inviting look,” said Candice Aragon, PSA and Edge’s vice president of marketing and education. “A section cuts out from the center of the symbol and becomes an arrow pointing forward, synonymous with the best in the business standing out and moving forward. The design symbolizes progress and forward-thinking and supports our mission to elevate the industries we serve. Finally, if turned sideways, an A and V are noticeable for a subtle homage to our industry roots.”

While Edge has a new look and feel, the essence of the organization has not changed. Edge’s purpose is to support its integrator members in becoming and sustaining their positions as leading technology solutions providers in the markets they serve by providing:

  • An international network of 100 integrators in 40 countries with over 300 office locations who collectively generate over $2 billion in annual gross revenue

  • Unparalleled partnerships with live meetings and events focused on collaboration, growth and industry insights

  • Expert training and education resources and special interest groups to address industry challenges and trends

  • Access to over 250 technology solutions providers globally and professional service providers

“Our new name and look give us the opportunity to continue to recruit the best low voltage systems integrators,” said Matt Barnette, CEO of PSA. “I’m extremely proud of the team’s hard work on the rebrand and eager for our continued success in 2023 and beyond.”

New Research Explores Commonalities Among Successful Service Integrators

PSA News Release Header.png

NEW RESEARCH EXPLORES COMMONALITIES AMONG SUCCESSFUL SERVICE INTEGRATORS

“Anatomy of a Successful MSP” by NSCA and PSA provides a blueprint for a profitable service business by deconstructing how some integration companies achieve elusive success.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, and WESTMINSTER, CO, Sept. 30, 2021 – A new, non-traditional research study seeks to change the integration industry’s dialogue around service revenue.

The transition from product- and project-based revenue toward a recurring revenue and service-oriented model is an omnipresent topic in integration industry trade publications, webinars, and business conferences. The traditional focus is on making a case for integration companies to shift business models and pursue the more consistent cashflow and stickier customer relationships that come with a service business.

However, “Anatomy of a Successful MSP” by NSCA, the leading not-for-profit association representing the commercial integration industry, and PSA, the world’s largest consortium of professional systems integrators, reframes the topic by analyzing only managed service providers (MSPs) that are successful. The research isn’t designed to make a case for why integration companies should target service business; instead, it unveils a blueprint for MSP success that other integration companies can follow.

The research, based on a survey of integration companies with demonstrated success in growing their service business, identifies common trends:

  • Steps taken by successful MSPs after committing to a service-oriented business model

  • Types of third-party providers they leveraged to get service business off the ground

  • Financial investments involved with committing to and launching service programs

  • Employee investments

  • Financial impact on companies

“Many integration companies understand the value in shifting to a more service-oriented revenue model, but they’re still slow to make the transition,” says NSCA Executive Director Tom LeBlanc. “It’s a big change. Companies want to proceed carefully and strategically. This can be difficult because, in the integration market, there are so few blueprints of successful service providers to follow.”

The research by NSCA and PSA provides integration companies with more clarity into necessary steps and the pain points involved with restructuring a traditional business model. “It’s a non-traditional research piece based on a small but focused survey,” says Candice Aragon, vice president of marketing & events for PSA and USAV. “Both NSCA and PSA identified lists of relatively successful service providers and asked them to share perspectives that might help integration companies that aren’t as far along in their transition to managed services success.”

PSA Network Announces Leadership Changes for PSA Security and USAV

PSA News Release Header.png
Jay Kowalsky USAV DAC Chairman

Jay Kowalsky
USAV DAC Chairman

A NOTE FROM JAY KOWALSKY

The organizational changes within PSA/USAV are not only strategic but also very timely. Today’s integrators are challenged with extraordinary constraints and rapidly changing technology. It requires organizations to think differently about the technology use case and their ability to apply it to dynamic work environments.

Under Matt Barnette’s direction as CEO and with Patrick’s leadership as Vice President of USAV, this re-structure will be the foundation that enables the USAV members to navigate the next several years with confidence and purpose.

WESTMINSTER, Colo. – July 12, 2021PSA, the world’s largest systems integrator consortium, today announced a structure change among its executive leadership team affecting both PSA Security and USAV. PSA’s CEO Matt Barnette made the adjustments to reflect his belief that each team member’s role should be focused.

“We have an extremely talented team at PSA. Over the past six months, I have been evaluating the team structure to ensure we have our vital employees in the correct roles,” said Barnette. “After much consideration, I have made these changes that will help poise PSA for 2022 and beyond. I’m excited for the upcoming year and know this team can accomplish great things.”

PSA’s leadership team structure is as follows:

  • Matt Barnette, CEO

  • Ric McCullough, President

  • Steve King, CFO (retiring in September 2021)

  • Candice Aragon, Vice President of Marketing and Events

  • Anthony Berticelli, Vice President of Operations

  • Tim Brooks, Vice President of Sales

  • Carol Philp, Vice President of Accounting and Finance

  • Chris Salazar-Mangrum, Vice President of Technology Partners

  • Patrick Whipkey, Vice President of USAV

Brooks, previously responsible for sales and vendor management, will now focus efforts solely on sales; while Salazar-Mangrum, previously vice president of USAV, will now focus on technology partners for both PSA and USAV. This change also represents a promotion for Whipkey, formerly the director of USAV.

In addition to these leadership changes, PSA has also made a key hire in human resources with the addition of Cate Jenkins and has promoted PSA’s project manager, Katie Blough, to the role of customer success manager. These changes reflect the importance of relationships to PSA: both internally on employee wellbeing and externally on the experiences of members, owners and partners.
